Oriental Traveller Acrylics On Paper The strong willed woman in this painting was inspired by the intrepid female artists and adventurers of the 19th Century who explored places in the Orient and painted the landscape and artefacts excavated there. |

Venetian Lady with Oriental Turban Acrylic on paper This was the first painting inspired by the clear meditearrean colours of Greece with a love of all things Italian. I brought back my inspiration after teaching art in Tolo, in the Peleponnese, on mainland Greece near Mycenae. The odalesque figure from Ingres original has always held a mysterious beckoning, and this is my interpretation of an Venetian lady with oriental/eastern overtones, waiting for her lover. |

Concubine on Holiday Acrylics on Paper This painting was inspired by my visit to The Alhambra in Granada, Spain. The concubine is the sister to The Lady in the Turban. She enjoys all the delights of a beach in Marbella! |

The Poetess Acrylic on paper I painted this
female Byronic figure after reading the book Carnevale by M.R. Lovric,
and becoming fascinated by the 19th century literary hero, who was himself
inspired by both Venice and Greece. After a holiday on one of the Greek
islands, I bought the Aegean colours back with me; the blues and violet
hues from the seas of ancient Greece. |

Ithica Acrylics on Paper Ithica was inspired
by the frescoes of the young Minoan King which I came across at the
Ashmoleum Museum, Oxford, and originally rediscovered by Sir Authur
Evans in Knossos Crete, at the excavated Minoan Palace. |

Isis Oil on Canvas The idea of communication has always been a theme throughout all of my paintings. Perhaps it's because I am a Gemini. Here the goddess tries to have a talk with the young man, who isn't responding to her words. Based on the Egyptian artefacts at the Ashmoleum Museum, Oxford. |

Michelle; Renaissance Lady Oil on Canvas I have painted Michelle, whom I met at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, standing before an Elizabethan estate. She is dressed in a red velvet, with an astrolobe in the foreground. At the time she was about to buy her first house so the manor house scene was apt. |

| Angel Man & Angel Woman Pastel on Paper This painting was based on the idea that we can communicate with spiritual beings. I spoke at length about this painting of Tucson T.V., the beauty and emotion of the scene brought tears to the eyes of the camera crew. |

The Sun Queen Acrylics/Collage on Paper This painting was shown on Arizona TV U.S.A., during the time of my exhibition at the De Grazia Gallery. It has Elizabethan energy, in the preceding year to the release of Shakespeare in Love. Shakespeare of course was to become the Man of the Millennium. |

The Moor's House Acrylics/Collage on Paper This paintings, and The Moor's Lady (below), were inspired by the play, Othello, following my visit to Tunisia, (and the play at the R.S.T. main theatre 1999) althought my painting is not directly linked to that production. The interior to The Moor's House was inspired by the interior of a palace in the middle of Tunis where I was received by the patron with the sensual charisma of Othello. |
